Since childhood I've always had a close connection to nature. So when I picked up a camera for the first time, inspired by greats such as Ansel Adams, I was immediately drawn to landscape photography. However, as I traveled, seeing some of the world's most breathtaking vistas, it became evident to me that it is the people who inhabit the landscapes that give them their context and ultimately their true beauty. Ever since, I have enjoyed photographing people, connecting with anybody, anywhere — and, through photography, celebrating random human encounters.
At the core of my creative expression is a simple goal — to capture an experience or a moment in time and transmit it to others. During these times of both increasing world tensions and growing cultural diversification in our own neighborhoods, building bridges of understanding with people and cultures different from our own is very important. Knowledge leads to understanding and compassion, which then inspires action.
